Sharing and telling stories has occurred since the beginning of time, they help bring meaning to our experience. For adopted children, their early story is their beginning of time and they will need to find meaning and understanding in order to move forward and heal through their early losses.
Jeanette will help the viewer understand, as a fellow adoptee, adopted at the age of 7 years old, that it is important psychologically and emotionally for children to make sense of their stories. Children need to be given permission to ask questions, be curious and wonder about their birth families in a healthy way with their caregivers support and guidance.
Jeanette will provide the following DIY interventions and show parents how to make these items at home with their child:
•Family Tree(s) in consecutive order - all ages
•Story Book told in the 3rd person- older children
•My Journey Through Placement - Younger children
