Dr. Suelyn Hall is a pioneering medical professional and author with a unique perspective shaped by her Jamaican roots, diverse life experiences, and accomplished career. As one of the first 50 female urologists in the U.S., she has dedicated her life to breaking barriers in a male-dominated field. Dr. Hall graduated salutatorian from Miami Southridge High School, earned a full scholarship to the University of Miami, and obtained her medical degree from New York Medical College. She completed her residency in Urology, excelling in medicine and surgery, and has provided decades of care to her patients in private practice.
As a legal immigrant from Jamaica to the United States, I came to this country believing not only in the land of opportunity, but in the land of possibility. America gave me the opportunity to explore my potential, prove myself on merit, and contribute to the field of urology.
After completing my urology residency, I joined a private practice in Manhattan, Kansas, where I spent years caring for patients and building my career. That journey eventually took me from private practice to becoming an Assistant Professor of Urology. For me, that progression represents something deeply personal: living the American dream.
But my career took on a new purpose after three of my medical school friends died from colon cancer before the age of 45. Their deaths changed the way I thought about medicine. Treating disease was important, but I wanted to help people get ahead of disease and physiological decline before they occurred.
That calling led me to found Quantum Health & Wellness Center, expanding my focus into preventive health, longevity, hormones, sexual wellness, and human performance. It also inspired me to become an author.
My book, How To Get A-Head, is about much more than intimacy. Yes, it helps people better understand the anatomy and physiology of the human body so they can build confidence and stronger intimate relationships. But the larger message is about getting ahead of physiological decline and understanding how our physical, emotional, hormonal, and intimate health are interconnected.
I also wanted to challenge the idea that pleasure and intimacy are somehow separate from health. Healthy intimacy can be part of managing stress, strengthening relationships, improving well-being, and supporting overall quality of life.
My journey has taken me from immigrant to urologist, from private practice to academic medicine, from physician to entrepreneur, and from entrepreneur to author and educator.
