We live in a world where technology is ever-present and constantly evolving. With the abundance of new gadgets and services, the privacy issues that come with them can often be overlooked. Whether it's data collection or surveillance, companies are finding more sophisticated ways to monitor our online activity and track our personal information. It is crucial that we understand the implications of using technology and be aware of what measures we can take to protect our privacy.
By being mindful of our digital footprints, we can safeguard ourselves from potential data breaches and identity theft. We must also be aware that corporations have the capacity to easily access personal information and use it for their own benefit without any knowledge or consent on our part. Companies should be held accountable for their actions and we should actively work to ensure that our data is not being misused by those with malicious intent. It is only through vigilance and responsibility that we can protect ourselves from the privacy issues of modern technology. Making informed decisions about what information we provide online, keeping our passwords updated, and remaining vigilant about the use of our data are important steps towards preserving our individual privacy.
As a tech CEO, I also personally know there are dozens of legal tricks being used to collect and maintain your data... because that is where the value lies for tech companies. So this is not a set-it and forget-it plan. Just as tech companies update their terms of use regularly... you must review your data and their access to your data regularly.
In addition to the content owned by tech platform, there is your personal privacy that should also be protected. Here are three simple things you can do to protect your online personal privacy:
1. Use strong passwords that are unique to each of your online accounts. Try to use a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols for added security.
2. Limit the amount of personal information you share online. Avoid sharing your address or phone number publicly, and be aware of which social media posts can easily reveal too much about you.
3. Use a virtual network (VPN) to encrypt your activity and keep it away fromrying eyes. A VPN can help protect you while browsing, streaming, and downloading online.
