Speaking Point: Exercise for Balance – Where is your time going? A)Write down 6 – 8 most important roles you play in your life EX: Mother/Father, Career Title, Wife/Husband, Health nut, Golfer, Law Student, Church goer, etc. Speaking Point: B) Under each role, write what you are doing in that area. EX: As a wife, I’m food shopping, creating family vacations, making or planning meals, handling dry cleaning, planning romantic outings and dates, shopping for gifts and necessities for my husband, overseeing the plans for the house remodel, etc. Speaking Point: C) On a scale of 0 – 5 rate the amount of attention each area is getting Speaking Point: D) Now re-rate each area to reflect your ideal balance of time. Speaking Point: E) Graph using pie charts how it is and how you’d like it to be. Speaking Point: F) Make a list of things you need to do to reach your ideal. EX: As a wife I will 1. Have my housekeeper prep 3 meals / week 2. Create 2 hours every Saturday morning for food and gift shopping. 3. Enroll my husband to research vacation options for 2011. Speaking Point: G) Now get to work shifting your time!! Achieving balance is in your hands!
