Speaking Point: Most people fail to find the road to financial success. The statistic is 80% of businesses don't make it past the first year. Here are 7 steps you must take to make sure you are one of the 20% success stories. Speaking Point: SET GOALS: Most people know about goal setting but they don't have goals. One of the first things I ask my new clients is how much income do you want to generate this year? Most of them don't have a goal and if they do, it is unrealistic. Speaking Point: CREATE A PLAN: Without a plan, you may as well bet your money on the horses or get a lottery ticket. You have to think long term and break down your vision into small steps. What success would you like to have 5, 10 or 25 years from today? Most people are focused on how they are going to pay the bills next month. Speaking Point: TRUST YOUR GUT: Your body never lies. It knows the truth. How many times have you had a feeling about someone or something and ignored it, only to find out later your gut was right. Even if everything looks a particular way, take a risk and trust your instincts. "You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life." Steve Jobs "I make movies based on gut." Jerry Bruckheimer "I never get the accountants in before I start up a business. It's done on gut feeling, especially if I can see that they are taking the mickey out of the consumer." Richard Branson Speaking Point: GET INTO ACTION: Stop making excuses why you can't reach success. The most common one is that it's hard to make money in this economy. While the majority of people are buying into that negative thinking, stop talking about what isn't working and why now isn't the time and start doing. Speaking Point: NETWORK: Without a trusted network, no one is going to know about you. Even if you have the most brilliant idea, product or service, you won't be able to make sales because no one knows about you. No sales equals business failure. Speaking Point: BOUNCE BACK: Most people give up too quickly. They try 2-3 times and quit. Study All-Star and Hall of Fame athletes, watch their interviews and listen to their audio books and apply their principles on the playing field to your business. Develop endurance and succeed. Phil Jackson's Sacred Hoops is a great example of bouncing back. Speaking Point: FOCUS ON GIVING: If you operate from fear and look at what you can get rather than what you can give, you won't make sales. Practice a primary attitude of "How can I serve?" When you give from the heart, people want to do business with you. Don't feel bad about making an offer. Your business service may be exactly what someone needs.
